Of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Sleep and Quiet

Jan 26, 2010

It was not an easy day, especially considering I was very withdrawn ( a much needed state for me), however..I had sleep the nite before, albeit an aided one..of which Heartman did not approve.
He is right, but sometimes you don't have a choice. I'm not the one to go into explanations.

Been listening to Five for Fighting, nice guy . He has nice lyrics and rhythm. I'm also trying to discover Three Days Grace...hoping something makes sense. It better soon!  I usually can't tolerate conundrums for too long..especially the Life variety. I need somethings substantial for sure...soon. I also think I cant tolerate being a grown up any more. Grown - ups have no imagination or the spirit. And unless you hold on to what you have of these two, time is usually going to assume you don't need them with age ...and it beings to fade the intensity of the two elements...

Also, maybe sometimes it is easier when I dont need to explain anything...just the quiet is good

Saw Vicky Cristina Barcelona, it's an interesting movie, thats one thing for sure.
At first, you kind of get overwhelmed by the star cast Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson. Then it's the lighting or the "color" in which its shot...its beautiful...mellow.
And the there is the dreamy story-line..the classic head vs heart..tagicom...well maybe...

To be fair the movie actually belongs to Javier and Penelope..who are so wonderful as a team.
The story line : Vicky ( Rebecca Hall) and Cristina ( Scarlett)...are two Americans, with contrary philosophies on life, both out  in Barcelona, one ( Vicky) working on her masters in Catalan culture while Cristina accompanies her on her trip ( she being the adventurous free spirit) ...they land up meeting Juan Antonio- (Javier) the city's best painter who works thru them ( he is good with both the canvas and women) and Maria Elena -(Penelope), who plays his positively crazy ex wife...

Narrated in 3rd person, this movie feel like a personal story...it feels real. Of course you know its Woody telling you the tale  ( dirty old man!! )...And it's a very seductive story at that.
This is the real rom com :)
Its nice to see Woody back after his totally weird Match Point, and his very obvious picturization of his excessive infatuations ( not that it's missing in this one..but at least its well done).

My favorite is Maria Elena ( Penelope)...I mean this one is so hilarious...every time you see her on the screen she is just a bundle of Spanish energy.

It's a 7.5/10 for me and a recommended watch from me.
