Maybe I should just write…if it helps keep the sanity…just do it. Do whatever it takes. This world is not ready for chaos. Till such a time stay on your preferred drug…sports, write, sing, some walks …whatever.

Checked out a quaint neighborhood recently – Tiong Bahru’s Yong Siak St…and I was in love ... with a bookstore ( and mind you that does not happen oftern- but more on that latet) ... called Books Actually ( where was I all these months?? , under a rock definitely ). Check out the web pagehttp://booksactually.com/flagship.html --there is this really nice unpretentious vimeo on Kenny Leck and how he got about the store, its inception et all. It’s pretty moving and if you are as passionate about books ( as I think I am)…this one hits all the right chords. For starters it's introducing me to a whole new set of writers ,( cutely so thru their Math Book Press- eg : Allan Pang etc ) secondly I love the ambience - it feels like a getaway , a serene spot to just mull and dwell on books, thoughts--- just be, I also like the nice stationery , Eco friendly totes/ bags , and then the cute " memorabilia" .of sorts from bottles, tiles, pez dispensers!!! woah! In short I just love the place... It's a place I think I will find myself going to often especially when I need to find myself.
With all the modern commercialities - bookstores now a days are so impersonal , "so cold" .. ( sometime literally with all the air conditioning and all :D) ... , so distant ... you dig? Well ... all that, there is no sense of discovery .
To me- I see bookstores as a refuge from the Arkham Asylum that the outside world is-- and I'm indeed glad despite a drastic fall in such true refuges - we still have places like Books Actually.
