CIA Superior: What did we learn, Palmer?
CIA Officer: I don't know, sir.
CIA Superior: I don't fuckin' know either. I guess we learned not to do it again.
CIA Officer: Yes, sir.
CIA Superior: I'm fucked if I know what we did.
CIA Officer: Yes, sir, it's, uh, hard to say

....Ok its these last lines that completely floored me ! And with that the Coen Brothers strike again and magnificently so :). Although I admit, I'm not not so sure if I'm supposed to realise how stupid we can get...which is actually not such a difficult thing . OK, the movie is still in me...as u can see.
One things for sure, this movie is a lot of adjectives : It is Dark, It is Nihilistic, It is a Thriller, Its a hilarious Comedy, Its is Quirky to boot....all of this packed in about and hour and a half.
That's a lot, especially when you end up reflecting on "stupidity" at the end of it all.
A lot of credit, I have to admit goes to the brilliant performances of an amazing star cast...Frances Mcdormand, Brad Pitt, John Malkovich ( watch out for the innumerable F-bombs!!), Tilda Swinton and George Clooney.
From the stupid " Linda", to the hard bodied but soft brained "Chad", the angst ridden analyst " Osborne", Osborne's scary two timing wife "Katie", Manic ridden, serial adulterer "Harry"...
its a melting pot for sure.
The movie simply deduces "stupidity" of human behaviour...and even that is probably simply put.
This movie certainly has a message when it takes a simple situation and how it can completely blow up in your face...in this case..every ones face...at the end of it you you certainly are left laughing all the way to cynic city.
The Coen Brothers are a league apart...Fargo, The Big Lobowski, No Country for Old Men...are the few I have seen... one has disappointed me... " Intolerable Cruelty"...
Burn After Reading is amazing watch...a must see for sure.
This is a 7/10 for me.
