Do we have Michelin rated restaurants in India?

Its strange not to have a gourmet guide or a gastronomical benchmark of sorts for a food indulgent country that we are.
We seem to have such a mosaic of cuisines , so many flavors and equal number of food joints to boot...that we could do with some serious critical appreciation of the preparations by a known and possibly a respected authority.

Next to spirituality, food is so chromosomal to us Indians. Its time we did something constructive contemplation about it. Our bulging bellies could do with quality bulge!

Though Michelin rating applies to a very small segement ....and it will be a good thing for people who really want quality food .For majority of us ...the commoners the word michelin itself is alien let alone its rating .

The French pride their food a lot...and theirs is surely not as old as ours.
As is Yoga (a proper system and method)...so is Food...evaluating gastronomy usually helps better understand qualitatively what we eat.
It may apply to a few...and it should...but there ought to be some who set the standards for our palettes.

Maybe its time we de- alienate and get savvy?

Just a thot.

Sure ! I agree with you ...but its India we are talking about ...surely ppl who have the understanding for these standards will enjoy it more call them savvy if you want ...where as there are more ppl who don't and there are more types of foods ...better or worse which can never be covered under those standards ...but the trend is catching up in India too like everything else. You never know how long it will take though.
